Mechanism of Action & Pharmacology:

  • Alkaloids & glycosides appear responsible for antispasmodic, hypotensive & vasodilatory effects, which also serves to increase circulation to the reproductive organs and potentially increase uterine contractions. Stachydrine is oxytocic & sedating. Leonurine is uterotonic, sedative, hypotensive, and cardioactive.
  • Nervine relaxant and cardiotonic effects attributed to bufadienolide glycosides.
  • Ursolic acid is anti-viral, anti-tumor, cytotoxic and inhibits Epstein-Barr.
